The short version
BPC-157 is often discussed online in the context of injury recovery. That popularity is not the same thing as established clinical benefit.
The human evidence we could verify for this review includes a 2025 intravenous pilot involving two healthy adults. A two-person pilot can be useful as an early safety observation; it cannot establish effectiveness, broad safety, or an appropriate clinical use.
What the pilot did—and did not—answer
The paper reported no adverse effects in the two participants during the observation period and described the infusions as tolerated. Its authors called for further studies.
It did not test whether BPC-157 improves tendon healing, muscle injury, pain, or athletic recovery. It also cannot settle questions about uncommon harms, long-term effects, product quality, or outcomes in people with injuries or health conditions.
Canada status
On April 9, 2026, Health Canada warned against unauthorized injectable peptide drugs sold online and named BPC-157 among examples it had seized. The agency says unauthorized drugs have not been assessed for safety, efficacy, or quality, and that “For Research Use Only – Not for Human Consumption” labelling does not make a product legal or exempt from regulatory requirements.

What we still do not know
Whether BPC-157 produces meaningful clinical recovery outcomes in humans; which populations, if any, might benefit; and its longer-term safety profile are unresolved by the small human evidence base described here.
If a claim skips from a mechanism or animal finding to a guaranteed human result, treat that jump as a question—not an answer.
